Like my bike – Specialized Stumpjumper 29er?
My 2008 racing machine:
Specialized Stumpjumper 29er. Yes, it is BIG. Ryan Palmer built it at Specialized Team Camp last week, and when he finished building it, he said, “wow, its a monster”. The name might stick. The Monster.
I love the way this bike rolls over anything thats ugly, flat or downhill. Especially ugly. Uphill is still under investigation.
I truly believe this bike is fast and I’m excited about the new challenge of winning races on 29inch wheels will present.
Specialized’s engineer said if we can sell 500 he’ll make a carbon model…
The new Rockshox 29er Reba Race is here. Its lighter, its stiffer, it has 100mm travel but….
As the sticker says “Not for ride evaluation”. Which is legalese for “it probably wont be available in your shop this week”
Mine! All mine!
One of the reasons why I hate self pictures: You can never time your smile quite right…

Specialized is busy making me a special frame by replacing the BB shell that will take the new Specialized crank set, which saves about 150-200gr. Pedals: TIME ti carbon, but I’m waiting on those new light LOOK ones

[…] The Rockshox Reba SL on the bike is not the lightest. I tested a lighter new Reba in South Africa, but the fork is not quite ready yet. https://www.conradstoltz.com/like-my-bike-specialized-stumpjumper-29er/ […]
That is a bad bike Caveman…just built one at our shop this weekend. I see what you mean as far as climbing. A Fox RP23 would work nicely w/some pro pedal on that beast. As far as being one of 500 to purchase the Carbon version…If I can pay 10% over actual cost…I am in. I am surprised to hear you will be racing it… you must really be impressed with the performance of the 29er wheel. Even though I am just an age grouper in XTERRA I still like all of the high tech gear and considered the switch myself. Congratulations on last years season and I hope to see you win again this year.
