Cant believe its XTERRA Waco time again
Last years’ XTERRA Waco winners. Cowboy Caveman and Renata Bucher 1st big win in the USA the Series. Check out last years fun blog here.
What a great sporting community here in Waco, Texas! The people are amazing. Waco is a perfect XTERRA venue. The course is very technical yet fun, its right down town the locals are really behind it. Texas is quite a sporty state- so we expect a lot of people from Dallas and Austin coming to check out XTERRA.
Fellow Specialized rider Melanie McQuaid and I did a 3hr clinic and meet and greet at Bicycles Outback last night. A great cycling store immersed in culture, and legendary wrench wrangler Ian Moore fine tuned my S works Specialized Epic 29er for these particular conditions.
Where the fun begins. Words cannot explain the complexity and fun-nes of this XTERRA Waco course. Its probably 95% single

SPECIALIZED ANNOUNCES THE TRIATHLON TEAM TO BEAT IN 2010
MultiSport | March 11, 2010
Poised to dominate the triathlon world in 2010, Specialized has launched its first-ever comprehensive triathlon team, with multiple athletes in each of the three major specialties: Long Course, Short Course, and Xterra. Hand selected by Bobby Behan, Specialized Global Marketing Manager for MTB and Triathlon, the team athletes represent the best in the business – from decorated vets to young, upstart pros.
“It’s super exciting to be instrumental in the construction of this star-studded global team, many of which have inspired my own triathlon career,” said Behan. “Collectively, the team has won every major title in triathlon from the Olympic Games to World titles in ITU, Ironman, and Xterra.”
The Mario Cipollini board room at Specialized HQ
The Lion King “Super Mario” Cipollini was a delight to follow- on the road and in public. His flair for fashion, clothing and glamour bordered on preposterous. It was delicious. But he was a remarkable sprinter who hated climbing and was quoted “If I wasnt a professional cyclist, I would be a porn star.”
But Mario was an amazing marketing vehicle and his sponsors’ ad campaigns still come up in cyclobablle. His pro career spanned 20 years, he had 42 Giro stage wins, World Champs in 2002, the list is too long, go read it on Wiki.
