This smoothie is amazingly tasty. It doesnt even have ice cream or sugar! Amber dreamed it up early summer. We often have a big glass of ice cold, thick, orange smoothie after training.
Into a blender:
– 4 ripe Oranges. Peeled. Duh
– Soy milk
– 0-2 scoops of French Vanilla Clif Bar protein powder. Depending how much protein you think you need. The the Clif protein makes the smoothie nice and thick like milk shake…
– Ice cubes
Blend.
Enjoy.
The best soup ever. Butternut soup
OK, you waited for it: The number 1 soup in the Caveman’s recipe book.
Just like the broccoli soup, this one is really simple and quick to make. And tasty and healthy, of course. Jan Bekker taught me this one too.
– Butternut. Peel, slice and de-seed a nice, ripe butternut into large pot, 1/2 full (or empty?) with salted water. In the US butternut is called “squash”.
The 2nd best soup ever. Broccoli & smoked ham soup
I learnt this recipe from master chef and long time house mate Jan Bekker. (Who has defected to Australia recently for “work”)
My prerequisite for a good soup:
– It has to be quick to prepare. (Athletes are always hungry and usually have to eat NOW!)
– It has to be easy to throw together. When you are bonked from a 4 hr training session, you dont want to go scour the back alleys of a certain ethnic neighbourhood to get the ingredients.
– It has to be healthy. (Or ice cream would have worked just as well)
Caveman’s New Potatoes with garlic and honey
Ingredients:
Dig up a few handfuls of New Potatoes from the vegetable patch. (about one double handful per hungry cave-person.)
