Had a great race. To my amazement I had a 5min 20 lead off this uphill bike, and won by 5min. My Specialized 29er was AMAZING. Shows you- 29ers can climb.

The 2nd coolest car in Bend. Disguised as a tribute to the Red Rocket
Being quite the “car guy” myself, I know a spectacular car when I see one. I just love cool cars. I bought my beloved Red Rocket (1987 Nissan Sentra) for $750 in Colorado Springs in 2001 and drove it like I stole it (and many other happy memories) before abandoning it in a parking lot in Reno- 2008. (Wanted to light it on fire and push it off a cliff but life has just been so busy)
Those bungees held the front fender up, and when I had to impress someone (like meeting a sponsor) I would touch the yellowing fender up with a can of black paint.
D day -1 for XTERRA Whistler, Canada
I came to XTERRA Whistler for the single track and boy, I wasnt disappointed!
For sure the hairiest, most scary, most technical XTERRA course I’ve seen. I walked some of the most hectic sections to check them out, then get on the bike, motivate and attack. Felt the rush of adrenaline, realized I forgot to breathe. What a rush. The riding here is in a class of its own. Not what I’m used to for sure.
I was just going to roll with the standard bike set up on my 29er Sworks Epic, but within 10minutes, I had the bar ends off, sliced the rear tire, so I put some Captains on and of course the Command Post is worth its wight in gold.
To make things harder – it just started raining and cant seem to shake this head cold.
The XTERRA crew, the athletes and the scenery is amazing. Fun times:
