Balega is based in Hickory North Carolina. It was just about halfway through our drive, and of course it was a great opportunity and see the Balega folks again. (Russell, Jacky and Rob. Chris was on the road and Bert and Tanya in South Africa)
Balega is a Zulu word that means “to move with speed”. The socks are simply the most comfortable, best made sock you can find on the market. It has no seams anywhere, (the socks are partially hand woven) the heel is nice and deep, and the material is 1st class.
Balega socks are made in South Africa and is the # 1 selling specialty running sock in the USA. It is a small company, but the people, their values and their impact on the community is hugely respected. I’m very proud to be part of Balega.

Go to your favourite specialty running store, and go straight to this rack:
Then, pick a sock you like. The Enduro (below) is my favourite all round running sock.
I’m proud to feature on the packaging. Even if it is only my rear end. (Which I’m told is my more charming end)
A new trail sock coming out this year. Some of the new socks feature Mohair. Hair from the Angora goat- which is said to revolutionize sock material.
The pic was taken on Paarl Rock, South Africa.
