SA Time Trail Champs is later today
I know ALL about time trailing- as long as its sandwiched between swimming and running. Here is a pic from ITU World Cup 1996? in Bermuda, wearing my favourite outfit and sporting my first free bike. A Sunn, I had to give back to Montpellier Triathlon club in France at the end of the season. Check out the matching purple Carnacs and luscious hair…
Its the big TT day. I’ve been staring at the ceiling since 5am- the competitive juices are pumping on the double. If it was Xterra I’d still be snoring. This is a new game and I’m really excited. If only we had 2 more weeks at sea level for prep… (thats what athletes always say, but this time its true- fiddled with handlebar position last night, not sure about drinking system and guessing about wattage and pacing)
I am really lucky to have a whole support team- squatting in and around my homestay (Bernhard Kullins) house. Ian Rodger (coach), Dylan van der Merwe (Specialized Mechanic) , Ben Melt Swanepoel (Specialized gentleman) and Berner himself. (Engineer, chauffeur, braai master, travel agent and training hack)
I did the homework on the farm, which was not ideal, (no electricity or tar roads) but it made for great blogging and outside of painful intervals, it was quite relaxing.
1992 World Junior Duathlon Champs in Frankfurt Germany. When the Juniors still raced 10km run, 60km bike, 10km run. They dont make juniors like they used to…
My start time is at 11.27 (GMT +2).
1 Minute in front of me is Darren Lill, and behind me are:
Daryl Impey (Radio Shack)
Burry Stander (Specialized)
Jay Thompson (Bissell)
Reinhard Janse van Rensburg
James Perry
Dylan (Specialized mechanic/PR guy) will be twittering from the chase car. Look out for @ConradStoltz and @Dylanvdm1

The SHIV is ready to rumble, now if only those Zipp wheels my good racing friend/competitor from high school, Jacques Rossouw (not the Cape Town J R) shipped from Pretoria last night, arrives on time. Shows you the power of twitter. Thanks Jacques! They should be in the depot at 8am.
and did you ever come up with a good name for the Shiv?
Go fast and take chances! Thank god multisport racing has progressed from the banana hammock days.
Good Luck Conrad!
Hope you do well!
Any chance to see you in Xterra Amazon this year?
