XTERRA World Champs 2010- Race report
I have never felt so emotional at a finish line before.
To understand the significance of this win, you have to walk the last 10 XTERRA Worlds years in my shoes:
My 1st win in 2001 was really a life changing experience– Not only did I discover and win this amazing XTERRA thing on a beautiful Hawaiian island, but I became a real, professional triathlete. Ned Overend liked what he saw during the season and gave me a brand new Specialized dual suspension bike the week before Worlds- FOR FREE ek se^! No more borrowing bikes! Overnight, I actually made money from the sport. Good money. (in my eyes anyway) It was my 10th season as a pro, but I still lived pretty much hand to mouth up until then. (Lived with my parents while in South Africa, drove my dads old Cressida etc) But the day after the race I signed with an agent (Scott Fairchild) and within weeks the space on my kit was sold out. (In fact, they asked me to wear jammers instead of speedos, “because we’ll have more space to sell.” I think they were just relieved to get me out of Speedos…
XTERRA Whistler, Canada
Conrad Stoltz XTERRA Whistler, by Dustin Derkach, Revolve Photography
I have always been spellbound by the crazy “BC” trails (British Columbia, Canada) one sees in the mountain biking videos and magazines. So when XTERRA Whistler came along, I jumped on the opportunity to experience this magical place, its trails and its people.
Conrad Stoltz talks about Stuffitts
I had long forgotten about the impromptu interview/chat at XTERRA Alabama with Mike Huebner from Stuffitts.
This morning I accidentally spotted a @Stuffitts Tweet. Mike has been a busy man, he edited and managed to create a coherent video clip from the couple of hours we chatted at the Oak Mountain State Park.
Considering I literally ran away from my 1st TV interview when I was 17, I think I’ve come a long way in terms of my relationship with the cold lens. Of course, after years of practice, I now speak English much more deliciously…
Here I briefly show the Avia AVI Stoltz trail racing shoe and of course, a Stuffitts demonstration.
XTERRA Waco, Texas

Conrad Stoltz won his second straight XTERRA 2010 USA Championship race and Renate Bucher her second ever with definitive victories at the XTERRA South Central Championship at Waco, Texas today.
Stoltz followed his XTERRA West Championship win at Lake Las Vegas last month with a 2:02:21 finish for the 1.5 k swim, 24k mountain bike and 10k trail run for a 3:05 margin of victory over runner-up Josiah Middaugh of Vail, Colorado. Stoltz seems to be getting better as the season goes on, since his margin of victory over Middaugh last month was just 39 seconds.
“Actually Josiah by rights should have won that race in Lake Las Vegas,” said Stoltz. “”But he had a flat and lost two minutes. Today, I was feeling much better and I loved this course. It has 300 turns and twists and a ton of sharp uphills and it suits my power.”
Bucher avenged a 6th place finish at Lake Las Vegas for a 2:17:59 finish that gave her a 2:15 margin of victory over Shonny Vanlandingham. Bucher’s win was her second XTERRA USA Championship win to go with her 21 XTERRA International career victories.
