5x World Champion and 2x Olympian Stoltz joins forces with Human Interest Group
Boulder, CO – The Human Interest Group (HIG), a Boulder-based athlete management firm, is proud to announce a new partnership with World Champion triathlete Conrad Stoltz. HIG will manage Stoltz’ ongoing sponsor relationships as well as create new partnership opportunities with the talented and versatile South African, known fondly as “The Caveman”.
Stoltz is perhaps best known for his unmatched four world titles on the XTERRA off-road triathlon circuit. In addition to reigning supreme as the current XTERRA World Champion, Stoltz recently set a new record for overall XTERRA career wins, claiming his 39th victory at the XTERRA West Championship in Santa Cruz,CA on May 15, 2011. Three weeks ago, Stoltz traveled to Extremadura, Spain where he prevailed against a packed men’s professional field to secure the inaugural ITU Cross Triathlon World Championship title – his fifth XTERRA World Championship win – on April 30th. Stoltz’ earlier athletic accolades include twice competing in the Olympic Games (Sydney and Athens), winning eight XTERRA USA Championship titles, having won five All Africa Triathlon Championship titles and five South African Triathlon Championship titles and taking the overall win at the renowned Mrs. T’s Chicago Triathlon in 2001.
“Conrad’s success across so many levels of sport is almost unheard of,” said HIG founder and principal, Franko Vatterott, “Yet his dominance and versatility are only a portion of the Caveman’s tremendous appeal to fans of the sport, endemic sponsors and corporate partners alike. He’s a wildly eclectic and entertaining character with a heart the size of his native South Africa. Conrad is fascinated with equipment design and has played a significant role in the development of new products at both Specialized and Avia, two of his major sponsors. And the fact that he’s racing stronger and faster than ever – at the age of 37 – doesn’t exactly hamper his value.”
Stoltz joins HIG’s already impressive athlete roster, including fellow World Champion triathletes Craig Alexander and Julie Dibens and fellow Olympians Laura Bennett and Dirk Bockel. “We’ve been lucky to combine forces with several of the top athletes in the sport,” said Vatterott. “Conrad’s unquestionable talent, along with his charming character and innate marketing and R&D savvy make him a perfect addition to the HIG family,” he continued.
Caveman qoute: “I’m honoured to be part of such a professional outfit. I’m really impressed with Franko’s professional, yet personable touch, and especially his ability to think out of the box and creating win-win relationships. Of course, its an honour to rub shoulders and learn from iconic athletes like Julie and Crowie. I look forward to growing my relationships with my current sponsors, reach out to new opportunities and continue on building a strong Caveman brand.”
Stoltz just won the XTERRA Pacific Championship in Santa Cruz, California on May 15th, where his technical prowess enabled him to win his 39th XTERRA title. His main aim is to win a fifth XTERRA world title at the XTERRA World Championship in Maui, Hawaii on October 23rd.

Caveman wins XTERRA Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz, California (just south of San Fancisco) is wacky, its trendy and its also know as “Surf City”. And the place where Specialized test rides bikes and equipment.
I love ocean swims, and even the supposed 53F water (11C- although it felt warmer) did not put me off.

2011 ITU Cross Triathlon World Champion. Has a nice ring to it. Didnt anticipate the 5th World title to come so quickly. But it was a lot of fun.
I didnt know what to expect of the ITU’s new off road triathlon concept, but I was curious to see how it would be, the timing was good and of course, it was World Champs! So I got the visa and climbed on a plane from Denver, not quite knowing what to expect.
I really enjoyed the shorter distances and the lap course (4 lap bike for 20km) and 2 lap (for 6km) run. The spectators (mostly age groupers who raced earlier) really got into it and lined the course to cheer and watch the action.
