The busy insects of Africa & other snippets
What happens in Africa when you leave your bike stationary for too long. (Wont say how long, but not long at all!)
It is a kind of wasp that made a nest and probably laid some eggs in the suspension pivot of my Specialized Epic.
NO kidding. A perfect little wasp home. This guy is quite some engineer. On the farm the frogs also like getting into your shoes and sports bags- (I think they like the climate in there) and I have had a frog fly South African Airlines to
Cape Town in my bag.
This is the Nelspruit/ Kruger International airport. The coolest airport Ive been to. It has a gigantic thatch roof, there was no line at check in, they let me take 15kg extra because its sporting goods, and amazingly the check in staff was friendly. !?!
The Nelspruit airport is the gateway to the Kruger National Park- perfect game viewing. Also 1h30 from Caveman territory.
To get through Security, you need no ID, no disrobing, no “Computer Out” and no cavity search. But what I liked most was the way I could carry my Edge wheel on, and it even got its own 2 seats with safety belts! (yes its an Edge tubular XC wheel to be tested at Specialized tire testing 25-31 January in Stellenbosch)
People constantly ask me where I live. Then I have to think and think and think. Sometimes I say “My bag” sometimes, “my car” sometimes “My parents farm”, but this week I live out of my storage unit in Stellenbosch:
Once or twice a day I’ll ride or run over to Storage RSA (my car has disappeared since I saw it last in April) I’ll frantically dig through some bags amougnst beds, lawnmower and bike stuff for some fresh Balega socks. My nice big home in Stellenbosch is rented to a family and boy, I MISS MY POOL!
